On May 3, 2015, we welcomed our friends from the “Fountain of Living Waters” Pentecostal Church for a joint worship service. Our guests are no strangers to our church as they use Naylor Hall for their services and functions.

The traditional worship service format was interlaced with participation by Pastor Jeff and Bishop Mendez, each offering translations between English and Spanish. Hymns like “Cantemos al Senor” (Let’s Sing Unto the Lord) , sung by the congregation, and “Tu Has Venido a la Orilla” (Lord, You Have Come To The Lakeshore), sung by the Chancel Choir, reflect the willingness to unite in common prayer through a shared language.

Joint Fellowship

After the service, members of both churches were invited to share a meal with offerings from both cultures: frijoles, arroz, chicken parmesan, tacos and other specialty entrees.

Joint Service Project

Before, during and after the meal, members of both churches participated in a joint service project which consisted of home baked cookies being boxed and labeled for presentation to teachers at the Stewart Middle School in appreciation for their service to the children of our local community.

Cookies Are Delivered

The entire day, project and fellowship is a demonstration of what can be accomplished when we move past our differences and celebrate our commonality.
