Mission: To engage children, youth and young adults in Christian Fellowship; strengthen relationships with God and each another;
and to educate everyone concerning God’s love, grace and salvation
March 5th was Family Day at Center Ice in Phoenixville 2-4 p.m. Ice skating was so much fun and a way to get closer to each other! We had five brave skaters and five cheerleaders on the bleachers! The skaters had a great time and the adults had a chance to get to converse and enjoy the time together.
March 5th the teens were on the streets of Norristown for Laundry Ministry. We went to the Mega Mat and gave out $75 in financial assistance as well as 15 bags of snacks. People were very engaging and receptive to our “Loads of Love”! We will be visiting the community at the Norristown Laundromat on Sunday, April 9th. The community is starting to know us and feel loved!
Friday, March 17th, the youth and congregants participated in the Hospitality Center fundraiser which was a silent auction and concert at the Fairview Village Church. Community service is very important to form disciples and we had a fun- filled night that will benefit the community. Many people commented on the professional manner of our youth and I was very proud of their kindness and hospitality.
March 31st is Messy Church! The theme will be “Temptation in the Desert” 6-8 p.m. We will be learning about our daily temptations and getting closer to God through crafts, games, stories, prayer stations and a light dinner. Please mark your calendars as I need all-hands-on-board to make this a success for the youth.
April 2nd will be a “Pancake Breakfast” to raise funds for upcoming youth events. The breakfast will be coordinated by the teen class and I have some awesome chefs in that group! The breakfast is at 9:30 a.m. and the tickets are on sale. The cost is $5 and $3 for youth 10 and under. Please support this fundraiser and know that your donations make a difference in Christian formation.
Saturday, April 15th is the Easter Egg Decorating/Hunt Party from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in Steinbright Hall. Please bring your youth, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. This is a fun tradition that is enjoyed by youth and adults!
April 16th is Easter Sunday and the Christian Education Board will be hosting a light breakfast/snacks in the gathering room and hallway of the main office, Please join us at 9:30 a.m. for some treats and engaging conversation!
Save the Date “May 7th” is family day at the Norristown Farm Park from 12:30-4:30 PM. There will be food-fishing-sports-games and engaging conversation. Don’t miss this fun time!
June 11th is Reflection Sunday with breakfast, teacher recognition and awards. The puzzle is almost done as we brought our faith and spiritual gifts together this year in new adventures and missions. Please join us at 9:30 AM in Naylor Hall!
The teens are hoping to continue their work making blankets for the homeless. We have several more to make and are looking for donations of 2 ½ yards of fleece. Please keep this in mind when you are browsing at a craft or sewing store.
We are actively engaging a literature connection book club for adults. The book we are reading is “Chaos and the Kingdom”. This story looks at six biblical stories that show us how Spiritual Direction will take us out of our chaotic state. Please contact Donna if interested. We are meeting the first Wednesday evening of the month from 7-8 p.m. at Dunkin Donuts at 1941 W West Main Street in Norristown. This book can be purchased through Amazon. Please join us for a drink, a donut and a great conversation!
In addition, we have started a knitting/crocheting ministry on the 4th Friday of the month at 1-3 p.m. The next session is April 28th in the Gathering Room. The items completed will benefit the homeless in the Norristown Community. You cannot knit/crochet? No worries! We can teach you and help you develop a new gift! Our group is pretty small so we need more hands-on-board and the fellowship is the best!!! We now have the Loom! Very easy to make a hat or scarf!
Mark your calendar…Vacation Bible School will be June 18th-June 22nd. Our program is the “Kingdom of the Son”. The youth will be learning more about God through a prayer safari. There will be a special guest on Thursday, June 22nd that will engage the children and make them totally excited!!!! I will be recruiting volunteers and please know that your time makes this type of event a huge success!
Thank you for all of your support and I am looking forward to continuing education opportunities that reveal God’s plan for Christ Church.
