Director of Music Ministries
Director of Music and Organist, Melanie Eberhard received her appointment to Christ Church, United Church of Christ in 2002. Since then Melanie has been having entirely too much fun with all of the talented and joyful participants in the many musical ensembles at Christ Church, not to mention the three manual M. P. Moeller organ and Shigeru Kawai grand piano. Martin Luther said it best: “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.”
Melanie began expressing her spirituality through music at the tender age of three with vocal solos followed by piano, choir and organ. A summa cum laude graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and winner of the McCurdy Organ Competition, she studied organ, piano, harpsichord, choral directing and voice. As a part of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Melanie performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony and Vienna Philharmonic. She was cast as a lead in two opera productions with the d’Angelo Opera Theatre, and co-produced a Three Sopranos production and Elizabethan Music and Poetry concert. Amidst the many artistic diversions, church music has occupied a central position in Melanie’s life.
Elsewhere in the community, Melanie maintains a piano teaching studio, accompanies instrumentalists, and enjoys English Country Dancing.
